MUSIC EDUCATORS

Grace Cox | Piano & Violin
My name is Grace Cox, and the journey of studying music has been a lifelong one for me. I come from a family very involved in music education, and I grew up studying piano and violin from the age of five. I am trained in the Suzuki Method and in Music Learning Theory, and emphasize the similarities of learning music to learning a language. Music lessons have been my training ground for developing focus, resilience, sensitivity, and determination. I realized that it was easy to default to being motivated by external factors - a teacher, a competition, a checklist - but that it takes more intention and is more rewarding to be motivated from within.
Students of all levels and ages will experience my core values of gentleness and empathy, which I believe to be more effective and sustainable than fear and pressure. For me, the art of musical expression is not about perfect performance, but developing the skills needed to share one’s authentic self.
